The Aston Martin DB10 is a bespoke two-door coupé created for the James Bond film Spectre by the British car manufacturer Aston Martin.
History of the vehicle
The Aston Martin DB10 is a special series of Grand Touring automobile, it has been created specially for the James Bond film named "Spectre". It was revealed to the Pinwood studios in 2004, fifty years after the first appearance on the screen of the secret agent driving an Aston Martin, the gray DB5 of Goldfinger.
The DB10 design was led by Aston Martin's chief creative officer Marek Reichman, with the film's director Mendes working closely with the team. The car was developed specifically for the film and ten units were hand-built in-house by the company's design and engineering teams in Gaydon.
Among those 10 cars, eight featured in the movie, and two more were built for promotional purposes.
Aston Martin stated that "the DB10 gives a glimpse to the future design direction for the next generation of Aston Martins."
Aston Martin revealed that the DB10 will feature the company's 6-speed manual transmission unit that is used on their V8-engined cars. Its chassis is based on a modified version of the VH Platform that underpins the V8 Vantage. However the DB10 has a longer wheelbase and is nearly as wide as the One-77. It is powered by the Vantage's 4.7 L V8 engine, with 436 horsepower. The DB10 was caught on video while being filmed at Blenheim Palace on 11 February 2015. Two versions were seen – the standard with vehicle registration DB10 AGB, and an adapted version with driver rig atop the vehicle.
James Bond's 24th adventure features the Aston Martin DB10 as a star car, facing a Jaguar C-X75. After the shooting, of the ten cars ordered by Sam Mendes, only two cars went out intact. One of them is exhibited at the Aston Martin Museum, the other one was sold at auction for £2.4 million, the benefits of this sale are donated to "Médecins sans frontières". The model car
This car seems very beautiful, its shapes are very particular and pure, the exterior's finition looks good, the body and the rims are in a good finishing, and it's a pleasure to see such an incredible car.
The rear of the car is just as well finished, we find this design very fluid and purified highlighted by the gray color. The marked license plate "DB10 AGB" corresponds to the authentic one, but we just regret the details of the rear optics which seem to be too much dark.
The front of the DB10 reminds the One-77 model, with a long ribbed hood gradually plunging, refined optics and the angel wing grille typical of the British manufacturer. The logo is also well detailed ; we appreciate to watch the DB10's face, it is a very particular but beautiful and futuristic design.
We contemplate this DB10 and notice the finesse of the design, the bodywork is highlighted by this particular and brilliant gray color but also by these pretty wheels with 10 (coincidence ?) branches that give an impression of movement and sublimate the vehicle.
The DB10 has a spectacular, all stretched look, its lines give it a good aerodynamics. It would seem to be spinning in the air like an arrow. You will notice its fine mirrors, well-reproduced handles and a ridge projecting along the length of the vehicle and highlight its line.
We'll also notice the base of the miniature which reproduces the scene of Rome during the car chase in the film.
We have now a look on the DB10's interior, we can't see much except the steering wheel, the meters, the shift lever and the instrument panel. These elements seem to be of a worse finishing than the bodywork and the exterior details: everything is black plastic and there are few decals. The seats however seem to be of good finishing, pity we can not see them enough !
Conclusion : the silver lightning !
The clean and ribbed profile of the DB10 fits perfectly with its color and its vocation to be an exceptional car. Despite a finishing that could have been improved (especially for the interior of the car). The DB10 leaves us all indifferent by its look both discreet (like a spectrum), purified and futuristic. This is a legendary car for the world of cinema and the James Bond saga, thus I recommend it to all car collectors of the famous British spy, but also to all those who collect Aston Martin model cars or to collectors of model cars with spectacular design.
The DB10 is just... beautiful, and has a low price ! Indeed it is the number 1 of a magazine about the cars and vehicles of legend of the James Bond saga. It is accompanied by a very interesting booklet on the film Spectre, its actors, its synopsis but also on the famous DB10 of the film and all its gadgets !
